I welcomed the year on a sickly note. Flu and asthma made me go home straight from work and even miss a day in the office. I had been sleeping in sitting position every night and was barking like mad. I eventually lost my voice and had to do a ‘sharing time’ for our first CG meeting because I couldn’t preach. I hate to see the doctor twice and take 3 bottles of different sorts of cough syrup.

It was during this time that I had doubts about going back into my sporty routine and pursuing the Ironman races I have signed up for.

Touching base with seasoned athletes caused me to think twice about that decision. Tomorrow’s the last day for that 80% refund and I am nervous about the final verdict.
Since recovered, I started breaking in with short distances. 1km swim, 33km ride and 5km run were my firsts this year.

I am feeding myself with positive stuff about doing triathlon over and over again, on a long haul and not just one big time. If for a long run, then my decision on which type of bike to get will be determined by it (or whether I’ll just rent one at the race).
Budget, time and energy… It’ll be a total stretch. Oh well, I’m still contemplating things through…
